For most vehicles, the transmission, brake, coolant, and power steering fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles, and differential service and manual transmission transfer case should be changed out every 75.
The reason we do this is that that oil and all other fluids break down over time, and if they're not serviced regularly it can lead to a premature failure of those components.
