Our Team

Everything we do is built upon our team; it is our foundation. We employ people who are skilled, professional, knowledgeable and educated – who make a positive customer experience their highest priority on every visit. They enable Advanced Auto Tech to be first-rate in the automotive service and repair industry. Our entire staff has access to multiple and limitless continuing education opportunities. They are required, as a condition of their employment, to complete successfully all assigned training annually. As a result, their knowledge and skill increase year by year.

Ben Johnson

President / Owner Automotive Service Industry Since 1986

As an owner, Ben typically wears multiple hats and all at the same time. He manages the day-to-day operations at AAT. He can be found at the service counter, driving the shuttle van, talking with customers, or helping our technicians in the bays. Ben identifies all training opportunities for our staff and procures the necessary equipment, tools, and software needed so that our shop remains up to date in our ever-changing field.

Ben is an ASE Master L1 Advanced Level Engine Performance Technician, Virginia State Safety and Emissions Inspector, and an Emissions Repair Technician. He has completed Service Advisor I, Service Advisor II, and Service Manager training at Automotive Training Institute where he is also actively involved in a 20 Group (shop owners’ group). Ben participates in ongoing automotive service and repair continuing education and training.

Ben is a member of the Capital Area Woodturners. He also enjoys brewing beer, mountain bike riding, working out, and living an overall healthy and active life.

Sisc (Sissy) Johnson

Vice President / Owner Business Management Since 1995

As an owner, Sisc works primarily behind closed doors. She is responsible for our corporate accounting, bookkeeping, human resources, and managing our marketing/advertising and community outreach programs.

Sisc earned her BFA/Photography at George Mason University. She has completed marketing training at the Automotive Training Institute and at George Mason University. Sisc holds training certificates from George Mason University in Managing Bias, and Diversity: Inclusion in the Modern Workplace, and IIA Internal Auditor. She also completed the following certificate programs, International Women's Health and Human Rights, Stanford Online, The Opioid Crisis in America, HarvardX. She participates in ongoing continuing education and training.

Sisc is a member of the Women's Caucus for Art of Greater Washington DC and she is a documentary photographer. Sisc loves animals, sampling craft beer, great food, and most of all, she loves being a grandmother to Amelia Grace.

Jon Connor

Service Manager AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE INDUSTRY SINCE 2001

As our service manager, Jon is responsible for managing the workflow between our service advisors and our techs. In addition, he greets our customers, performs check-in and check-out, schedules appointments, reviews service recommendations, and creates estimates.

Jon is a Certified Service Advisor and Customer Service Representative. He also participates in ongoing continued education for automotive service and repair.

Jon enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and their two dogs. He also enjoys movies, playing the guitar, grilling, and working in his yard.

As our service advisor, Wilber is responsible for greeting our customers, performing check-in and check-out, scheduling appointments, reviewing service recommendations, and creating estimates.

Wilber has more than a decade in the automotive industry and participates in ongoing continued education for automotive service and repair.

Wilber enjoys spending time with his wife, three daughters, and their four dogs. In his free time, you will find him working on one of his many car restoration projects.

Community Outreach & Mktg Manager

As our Marketing and Community Outreach Manager, Kristina researches and identifies opportunities for AAT to partner with local groups and non-profit organizations as a part of our community outreach initiative. Kristina is a self-starter who enjoys working independently and as a part of our team.

Kristina graduated from the University of Virginia, College at Wise where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a Minor in Spanish.  In her free time, she enjoys interior decorating and spending time with her two daughters, husband, and their two dogs.  You can see her DIY projects on her IG @kristina.roy

Administrative Specialist Business Management Since 1999

As our administrative specialist, Megan assists with bookkeeping, marketing, and community engagement. She also assists our service team at the front counter with greeting customers and check-in and check-out services.

Megan spent a decade working for the government in administrative positions before joining our team. She is a seasoned professional who brings years of experience to our team.

Megan enjoys working in her yard and caring for her 3 dogs and her cat. She enjoys spending time with her son, Trey, and any animal she comes across.

Senior Technician Automotive Service Industry Since 2000

As a senior technician, Mike is proficient in diagnostics, automotive service, and automotive repair. When Mike is not working on a vehicle, he mentors our young professionals through hands-on-learning and by sharing his automotive knowledge.

Mike is an ASE Certified Automotive Technician and a Virginia State Safety and Emissions Inspector. Mike participates in ongoing automotive service and repair continuing education and training.

Motorcycles and sports are just a few of Mike’s hobbies. Mike likes attending baseball, hockey, and football games (or watching them on TV). When he is not working or at a sporting event, he can be found hanging out with his close friends or spending time with his Mom. Mike has a passion for cooking and he really enjoys experimenting with food.

Brian Banks

Technician Automotive Service Industry Since 2014

As a technician, Brian is skilled in automotive service and automotive repair work. In addition to his automotive responsibilities, Brian also serves as our facility manager. He is responsible for ensuring that our facility is properly organized and fully operational.

Brian is a Virginia State Safety & Emissions Inspector. He participates in ongoing automotive service and repair continuing education and training.

Bowling is Brian’s sport, and it is one that he takes seriously. Brian is an avid bowler and in his “spare” time, he can be found at a bowling alley near you. In addition to bowling, Brian really enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and their daughter, Olivia.

As a technician, Sovanna is skilled in automotive service and automotive repair work.

Sovanna is a Virginia State Emissions Inspector, a Hunter Certified Alignment Technician. He participates in ongoing automotive service and repair continuing education and training.

When not at work, Sovanna enjoys spending time with his wife, Shelley, their daughters, and their dogs. He frequently visits animal shelters, and he would love to travel around the world.

As a technician, Jerry is skilled in automotive service and automotive repair work.. He also helps maintain our facilities.

Jerry obtained student ASE Certifications in Brakes, Suspension and Steering, and he is a Virginia Emissions Inspector. He participates in ongoing automotive service and repair continuing education and training.

When Jerry is not working, you will likely find him fishing, mountain bike riding, and watching movies.

Evan is our Technician Assistant. He provides invaluable assistants to our technicians. Evan will be attending Radford next year where he will be majoring in Geological Engineering and Environmental Geoscience.  In Evans free time, he enjoys hanging out with his friends, tinkering in his workshop and collecting rocks.
